Finding My Artistic Style

I’ve been wanting to find my artistic “style” but no sure how to go about it, so I searched the internet and found several good tutorials and blogs on the subject.  I found my favorite on the Copic Markers Tutorials site.

The tutorial, titled “4 Steps to Your Own Signature Art Style” written by Christopher Kelly, takes you through soul-searching questions and experimental exercises to find your style. Here are the four steps:

Step 1: Identify three artists or art styles that really resonate with you emotionally.

Step 2: Choose one image that best represents each of your choices from step one.

Step 3: Analyze each of the images you chose in step two.

Step 4: Combine each of the individual artistic elements you identified in step three into an original drawing of your own.

I decided to try Christopher’s advice and post my journey here, beginning with Step 1: Identify three artists or art styles that really resonate with you emotionally.  I need to choose three artists I really love and that are as different as possible. I think I can narrow it down to three, but it might take me awhile!  See the results in my next post.
